EBC trek attracts many travelers through its spectacular scenery throughout the trekking trail. If you are traveling here, there is little chance of not seeing the stunning glaciers, ancient monasteries, and fascinating Sherpa people, their rich culture, and traditions. When you get closer to the base camp, you will feel surrounded by more beautiful snow-covered mountains.

Mount Everest

Mount Everest is Earth's highest peak that lies above sea level and is situated in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas. The Nepal-China nation runs across its summit point. It lies 8,848.86 m above sea level. In 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary made the first documented ascent of Everest 1953 using the southeast ridge route. Meanwhile, the Chinese mountaineering team of Gonpo, Qu Yinhua, and Wang Fuzhou made the first reported ascent of the mountain from the north ridge on 25 May 1960.

Kala Patthar Peak

While visiting Everest Base Camp, you will see the giant and beautiful mountain, Mount Everest, from the Kala Patthar. It is said that the Kala Patthar offers the closest view of Mount Everest, one can get without excellent mountaineering skills. So, the Everest base camp Helicopter tour also takes off there instead of EBC. To reach Kala Patthar, you must walk on foot for about 12 days round trip on the trail leading to Everest Base Camp from the Lukla airport.

Sherpa Culture Museum 

This one is one of the most recommended places when you must visit during your Everest base camp trek. The museum in the Namche duplicates the Sherpa culture, historical photographs, and so on. Adding more about the owner, the museum is owned and maintained by a local photographer, Sherpa Culture Museum preserves the ages’ old cultural artifacts of Sherpa and also comprises the photographs of all Everest summiteers.

Besides that, the museum is endowed as a part of the Sherwi Khangba Center as is the Khumbu International library with a huge collection of books, travel guides, and historical journals. You can donate a book to the library which may interest another visitor. This way, your possession remains part of the historical center for eternity.

Pyramid International Laboratory

Apart from the cultural museum, the Khumbu region has its research center that is the Pyramid International Laboratory. It is built in a typical Nepali lodge style where till now more than 500 scientific missions have been carried out by above 200 researchers from several countries. These are the unique attraction of the Everest base camp trek.

Lhotse

Trekking on EBC, you will also see the fantastic view of mountain Lhotse. The peak is one of the highest peaks in the world at 8,516 meters. It is located on the border between the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is located south of Everest and north of Nuptse.

Cho Oyu

Similarly, you will also see a glimpse of Cho Oyu. Cho Oyu is the sixth-highest mountain in the world, at 8,188 meters above sea level. The peak is the westernmost prominent peak of the Khumbu sub-section of Mahalangur Himalaya. It also stands on the China Tibet–Nepal Province No. 1 border.

Gokyo Ri

Similarly, another alluring rocky peak is Gokyo Ri, which is 5,357m above sea level. It is the slightly lesser known and slightly farther away viewpoint of Everest compared to its more famous sibling Kala Patthar. From there, you can see Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu mountains.

Sightseeing Around Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)

On the way to Namche Bazaar, Sagarmatha National park is also listed as a UNESCO site. If you want to visit the park, you need a permit at the entrance gate. After entering the park, you can see and experience the Himalayan-based ecosystem, which includes a dense forest of oaks, bamboo, pines, junipers, and rhododendrons. The Sagarmatha National park is home to numerous endangered flora, fauna, and rare animals like snow leopards, blue sheep, Himalayan goats, and eagles. Many travelers also said that the trails between these forests give experiences of wildlife adventure and nature walks while heading towards Namche Bazaar.

On your way toward Everest Base Camp, you will visit a huge monastery named Tengboche Monastery (Thyangboche or Dawa Choling Gompa). Tengboche is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the entire Khumbu valley of eastern Nepal. The monastery is situated at an elevation of f 3,867 meters (12,687 ft).  It carries a huge history and the importance of the Sherpa culture. Each year hundreds of visitors come here to see the handicraft, art, and the gumba itself.

Kala Patthar is the highest point of Everest Base Camp Trek and is located at 5,500m. In Nepal, Kala means black, and Patthar means stone. Thus, it means a large black rock mountain. Kala Patthar is regarded as one of the best viewpoints in Nepal to have magnificent sunrise, sunset, and panoramic views and scenery. Mostly, trekkers take an early morning hike before dawn to reach the summit before sunrise. The viewpoint provides 360-degree sweeping views of Everest along with Makalu, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and other smaller ones.

Namche Bazaar: A Himalayan Town in Everest Region

Namche Bazaar is a town in Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu District of Province No. 1 of north-eastern Nepal. The bazaar is at 3,440 m. It is a tourist hub, the most popular resting stop in the Khumbu region, and the biggest town in the Kumbu Valley. Likewise, Namche is the main trading center and hub for the Khumbu region. The town showcases a plethora of beautiful glimpses of peaks like Kongde Ri (6,187m), Thamserku (6,623m), and also the mighty Everest (8,848m). Throughout the town, you can also visit numerous cafes, lodges, Tibetan handicraft shops, restaurants, bakeries, museums, etc. So, during your break day at Namche, you can visit these places and enjoy the day with luscious food and drinks.

Hillary Suspension Bridge (Highest Suspension bridge in Nepal)

Another fantastic place that you will encounter while trekking at Everest Base Camp is Hillary Suspension Bridge. It is the highest suspension bridge in the Khumbu region, lies over the milky Dudh Koshi River, and is 410 feet high. Many local people claimed that the bridge itself is holy and adventuring. The flag around the bridge resembles peace and religious and spiritual vibes, while the swinging bridge will thrill you during walking across it.
