Overwatch is a 2016 first-person shooter video game that is played in a team-based multiplayer environment. It was developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment. Overwatch, which has been dubbed a "hero shooter," divides players into two teams of six, with each player picking a character from a wide pool of characters, known as "heroes," each with their own set of powers. Teams compete against one another to fulfill map-specific goals in a limited amount of time. After the game's initial release, Blizzard has continued to introduce new characters, maps, and game modes, all of which are completely free to players, with the only extra cost to them being the purchase of optional loot boxes to get cosmetic items. It was released in May 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms, and in October 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. In March 2021, Microsoft published a performance optimization patch for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. Every platform, including mobile, supports cross-platform play.
Bloodborne is an action role-playing game released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. This action-adventure game follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the desolate Gothic, Victorian-era–inspired city of Yharnam, where the residents are suffering from an infectious sickness brought on through blood transfusion. When the player's character is trying to figure out what is causing the epidemic, he or she must explore the secrets of the city while facing off against creatures and celestial entities.
Shadows Die Twice
Developed by FromSoftware and released by Activision, Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure video game set in a dystopian future. The story revolves on a shinobi known as Wolf, who is out for vengeance against a samurai clan who assaulted him and abducted his lord in the game. It was launched in March 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will be available on Google Stadia in October of the same year.
While the game's gameplay is centered on stealth and exploration, it also includes fighting, with a strong emphasis on boss fights. Taking set in a fictionalized Japan during the Sengoku era, the game has many allusions to Buddhist mythology and philosophy throughout the narrative. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's principal director, wanted to create an unique intellectual property (IP) that would be distinct from the Souls series of games, which were also developed by FromSoftware. Game titles such as The Mysterious Murasame Castle and the Tenchu series served as sources of inspiration for the creators.
Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario Odyssey is a 2017 action-adventure platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch video game system. It is the first installment in the Super Mario series. Mario and his new companion Cappy—a sentient hat that grants Mario the ability to manipulate other people and objects—travel through numerous countries in their quest to liberate Princess Peach from his foe, Bowser, who has plans to marry her off to a prince he has never seen before. With this game, Nintendo is returning to the 3D platform gameplay that was featured in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, as opposed to the linear gameplay of the previous games in the series. Odyssey was released on October 27, 2017, and it is a science fiction film.
Celeste is a platform game released in 2018 that was conceived, directed, and written by Maddy Thorson. It was coded by Thorson and Noel Berry as well. It is a fully-fleshed version of the 2016 PICO-8 game of the same name, which was created entirely by Thorson and Berry during a game jam in only four days, with no outside help. With the action taking place on a fictitious version of Mount Celeste, the story follows a young lady called Madeline as she tries to scale the mountain and must confront her inner demons in order to reach the peak.
Nier: Automata is an action role-playing game that was released in 2017 by Square Enix. It was developed by PlatinumGames and published by the publisher. A sequel to the 2010 video game Nier, which was itself a spin-off and sequel to the Drakengard series, it is set in the same universe. The game was first launched for PlayStation 4 and Windows PCs via Steam, with an Xbox One version following the following year under the title Become As Gods Edition, which was released in 2017.
The plot takes place during a proxy war between alien-created machines and human-crafted androids, and it chronicles the hardships and tribulations of battle android 2B, scanner android 9S, and renegade prototype A2. A number of playthroughs are required to complete the plot, with each playing revealing new story aspects. While the game's gameplay incorporates role-playing components with action-based hack and slash combat, the game's features include a transition between video game genres similar to those of Nier, including elements such as shoot 'em ups and text adventures, among others.BU

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a stealth video game released in 2015 by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. It is the fifth installment in the Metal Gear series. It is the ninth entry in the Metal Gear series, and it was directed, written, and developed by Hideo Kojima. It comes after Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a stand-alone prologue that was published the previous year, and it is his last work for the Konami video game company. Based on events that occurred nine years after the events of Ground Zeroes, Punished "Venom" Snake leads a group of mercenaries into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and the Angola–Zaire border region in order to exact revenge on those who destroyed his forces and came dangerously close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.
Persona 5 is a role-playing video game that was released in 2016 by Atlus. There are six games in the Persona series, which is a subset of the wider Megami Tensei brand. This is the sixth entry in that series. Developed and published by Atlus in Japan, North America, and Europe, and Deep Silver in Australia, it was released in Japan in September 2016 and internationally in April 2017. It was distributed by Deep Silver in Europe and Australia and published by Atlus in Japan and North America. Persona 5 Royal, an expanded version with additional content, was released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in October 2019 and for the rest of the globe in March 2020. Batman: Arkham City
Batman: Arkham City is an action-adventure video game that was released in 2011 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It was created by Rocksteady Studios and distributed by the company. Batman: Arkham Asylum is the sequel to the 2009 video game Batman: Arkham Asylum and the second entry in the Batman: Arkham series. The game is based on the DC Comics character Batman. Arkham City was written by veteran Batman writer Paul Dini in collaboration with Paul Crocker and Sefton Hill, and it was inspired by the long-running comic book mythology of the same name. Bats is imprisoned in Arkham City, a super-prison that surrounds the decaying urban slums of fictitious Gotham City, in the main plot of the game's main storyline. As the facility's warden, Hugo Strange orchestrates a diabolical plot, he is tasked with uncovering the truth behind it. Batman and the Joker are both voiced by performers who have appeared in the DC Animated Universe, with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill repeating their respective roles as Batman and the Joker respectively.

Nintendo's 2017 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was developed and released on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the nineteenth mainline entry in the series, and it takes place near the conclusion of the chronology. The player takes control of an amnesiac Link who wakes from a hundred-year hibernation in order to reclaim his memories, vanquish Calamity Ganon, and restore Hyrule to its former glory.
