Doosan Wins 4 Consecutive Exhibition Games... KIA Nail Gives Up 6 Runs in 3⅓ Innings

Professional baseball's Doosan Bears won four consecutive exhibition games.

Doosan defeated KIA Tigers 7-2 in the home game of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League exhibition game held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 14th.

With this, Doosan continued its unstoppable winning streak following two games against Kiwoom Heroes and the game against Lotte Giants.

Center fielder Jeong Soo-bin, the number 1 hitter, played well with 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 2 RBI, and 1 stolen base, and number 4 designated hitter Kim Jae-hwan also showed off his batting ability with 2 hits in 3 at-bats and 1 RBI.

KIA's new foreign pitcher, James Nail, gave up 8 hits, 1 walk, and 6 runs (6 earned) in 3⅓ innings and was dismissed early.

In the bottom of the first inning, Doosan took the lead with Kim Jae-hwan's double to left center in a scoring opportunity created by Su-bin Jeong's hit and stolen base.

Doosan hit 4 singles and 3 doubles in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring 6 runs in a 'big inning'.

Kim Jae-hwan and Yang Seok-hwan's back-to-back hits left the team on second and third base with no outs, and Kang Seung-ho hit a timely hit with two RBIs, followed by a hit by Heo Gyeong-min and Park Gye-beom, leading to a bases-loaded chance with one out.

KIA lowered its nails and quickly brought up Dae-yu Kim from the bullpen, but Doosan Su-bin Jeong brought two runners home with a double down the right-field line.

Henry Ramos hit a double with one out and 2nd and 3rd bases, adding 2 runs.

Kim Dae-yu finished the inning with difficulty by striking out follow-up batters Kim Ki-yeon and Kim Jae-hwan, respectively, with a fly ball.

Starting in the 5th inning, KIA used left-hander Lee Ui-ri to prevent additional runs and chased down a run in the 6th and 7th innings, but it was not enough to turn the game around.

Ui-ri Lee pitched well, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts, and no runs in 4 innings.

Previously, Doosan starter Kwak Bin met the scheduled number of pitches (27) in 1⅔ innings and recorded no hits, 2 walks, 1 strikeout, and no runs.

Lee Ui-ri and Kwak Bin, who are on the national baseball team, are likely to pitch in practice games against the MLB San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers on the 17th and 18th.
