Reyes has been the lone bright spot in the team's three-game losing streak

Lotte Giants' foreign-born hitter Reyes has been the lone bright spot in the team's three-game losing streak.

Victor Reyes, Lotte's newest foreign-born hitter, went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk against KIA in Gwangju on Saturday. Despite the team's loss, it's a good start to his first season in the KBO.

He is only three games into the season, but he has 13 hits, six doubles and one home run. On April 24, he sent Lotte fans into a frenzy with a dramatic tiebreaking two-run shot in the ninth inning against Incheon SSG.

The 6-foot-4 switch-hitter had two hits and a walk against KIA's Yang Hyun-jong on June 26. In the first inning, he drew a six-pitch walk. In the third inning, he pulled a two-pitch changeup from Yang for a single to left.

In the fifth inning, he singled against Yang to put runners on first and third with two outs. He was unable to follow up with a hit to score, but he continued to bat in the center of the order as the No. 3 hitter.

Lotte is on a three-game losing streak to start the season after losing to KIA on April 26. 안전놀이터 Outside of Reyes, Lotte's batting lineup has been lackluster as a whole.

Lotte has had three different foreign bats in the last two years.

Zack Rex, who joined the organization in 2022 as a replacement for DJ Peters, re-signed for the 23rd season but struggled with knee injuries, hitting just 4 home runs and 30 RBIs in 55 games. Lotte made a late-season change at the plate. Newly acquired major leaguer Nico Goodrum had high hopes, but he only managed 28 RBIs in 50 games. He didn't prove to be the solution Lotte was looking for.

Lotte signed Reyes to a $950,000 contract before the season. Reyes, who was brought in to erase the team's black history with foreign hitters, has adjusted well to the KBO since the beginning of the season.

Even though the team is on a losing streak, the bat of Lotte Giants' newest foreign bat Victor Reyes is hitting hard. His post-hit celebrations are giving Lotte fans hope.
