Details

Rudolf Walter Richard Hess (Heß in German; 26 April 1894 – 17 August 1987) was a German politician and a prominent member of Nazi Germany's National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP). Adolf Hitler appointed Hess as Deputy Führer in 1933, and he held that post until 1941, when he went solo to Scotland in an effort to negotiate peace with the United Kingdom during World War II.
He was arrested and then convicted of crimes against the peace, enduring a life sentence until his suicide.
